Mind & Body Connection

 

Did you know that your thoughts, attitudes and perceptions influence how you feel? It's obvious, isn't it?

 

If you had to stand up in front of a group of people and you think you are going to be really nervous, don't be surprised when you are. Your thoughts about the situation will start to affect how you feel internally.

 

But not only that, it will also be projected externally via your physiology (the body). Perhaps you will have sweaty palms, colouring in the face, shifting body position - everyone is different in how they display their physical traits.

 

These are all common symptoms, and it can start with just a thought.

 

This is how the mind and body are connected. However, there is good news - if you can change how you think and re-program the software of your mind it will change how you feel and as a result your behaviour and external physiology will change too.  To be truly effective, this change may need to occur at both the conscious and unconscious level.

 

Deborah's Story

 

Deborah had to do a presentation to a senior executive group to arrange funding for her department. She felt that they were likely to say 'no', and therefore she had to make sure the presentation was perfect. Deborah always gets nervous in presentations - her heart races, palms sweat, her legs start to shake and her voice starts to quiver. It was particularly bad this time as she was putting so much pressure on herself to be perfect.

 

Using NLP techniques, I took Deborah back to a time where she felt incredibly positive and confident and captured it. We then changed her internal software in the mind to allow her to recreate this feeling whenever she needed it so she could feel positive, energised and supremely confident. This whole process took about 30 minutes.

 

The presentation was a great success. Not only did she have the coping mechanisms in place to ensure that she was confident, but she has them even now and can set them off whenever she feels she needs that boost of confidence. She looks and feels different. For Deborah it is life-changing.
